The shop behind Remote.
Remote is a mechanical design and prototyping shop dedicated to bringing your ideas to life. The goal is simple: make it possible for companies and individuals, even those with no design or manufacturing experience, to create physical parts that match exactly what they have in mind.
We handle the whole path, from collaboration and design to delivering a finished part, and we're glad to help no matter the size of the project.
Taking an idea from concept to reality can feel daunting, especially in the early stages. That's why Remote keeps things affordable and cuts the expensive upfront costs that usually come with custom design and manufacturing.
Tim VidoniFounder, RemoteMost shops make you choose between a designer and a machinist. We're both, under one roof. You bring the idea, and we own everything from the first CAD model to the part in the box.
Where it all started.
I spend most of my time off chasing mountains with friends to places that take real effort to reach. One day a buddy of mine, also an outdoorsman and avid rock climber, mentioned an idea he had for a grip strength trainer that actually worked the way climbers train.
I happened to have a 3D printer in my basement and ten years of mechanical engineering in my head, so we sketched it out and I printed the first one. And it worked!
Soon his climbing friends wanted one, then their friends. So I bought a few more printers, started running batches, and what started as an idea brought up around a campfire turned into something people were actually looking for.
When it clicked that this wasn't a one-off, and that plenty of people have ideas that they need custom parts for, I turned the basement into a real workshop. I named the business Remote, after the trips that started it all. Since then, I've built for a lot of people with ideas worth chasing.
